I get asked this question quite often by my friends on Twitter & LinkedIn.

While there is no one right or wrong answer, here is a simple approach you can follow to make your first $1 online*:

• Investment required $0
• Dedicated time 1 hr/a day
• Timespan 3-4 weeks

 *Since sharing this process, I've received feedback from 4 people who used it and made their first $1 online.

Step 1 - Identify ideas

Identify topics that you can talk about unprepared for 60 mins, it to be related to:

• Your interests
• Your skills

Write down 3 ideas or more (make sure each idea is related to your interests and skills). 

Note: Remember, each of these ideas should be something, you're quite familiar with.

Step 2 - Collect your ideas

Now, in order to pick one idea from the list, you'll need to verify the demand for these ideas:

• You can use this free tool from Ashrefs to check the search volumes for each idea
• Find the idea with the highest search volume(s)

As an example, I was looking for ideas related to LinkedIn:

I noticed that the following keywords related to LinkedIn profile optimization got:

• 18,000 monthly search hits for "LinkedIn profile"
• 2,100 monthly search hits for "profile examples"
• 1,000 monthly search hits for "profile tips"

In total, the demand for LinkedIn profile optimization is generating over 21,000 monthly search hits (only in the US) so this seems like a good idea with solid demand.

Step 3 - Create your digital product

You have a couple of options to go about your product:

• ebook (pdf)
• An online course
• A consultation call

Starting out, my advice is to create the simplest form of a digital product which is a 10-20 pages ebook.

You can follow these steps to create it:

1. Do your research
2. Write everything into a Google doc
3. Organize it into small chapters/sections
4. Use Canva to create a free cover page for your e-book

Step 4 - Distribute your product

Now, you will need to share the 1st version of your product with family and friends. This will help you:

• Get feedback to improve it
• Acquire some testimonials

Once done, you can follow these steps to distribute your product:

1. Upload the ebook to Gumroad & price it at $7
2. Add the testimonials to the product description
3. Choose one social media channel to promote it (Example: The best channel for a LinkedIn profile optimization product, would be LinkedIn)
4. Divide your ebook into small/tiny chunks and use them to post content daily
5. Include a link to your product in the first comment of every post
6. In 2 weeks you should start seeing sales come in.

That's it you just made your first $1 online.
